For the last 2 days I've been sick. Yuck sick. In the last few hours I've been informed that a friends kids have swine flu. Yay for us. While I'm still a functioning sickie and I don't normally go in for something like the flu, I admit I'm paying closer attention to symptoms and I'm not hugging and kissing on my kids as much today.
Mom being sick, however, didn't stop my little one from climbing into bed with me this morning and telling me about Ryan who's married to Abby and their friend Lily who's married to Jeremiah. She told me that Abby used to be in love with someone else but then she married Ryan and now they have 2 little girls Ashley and Amy. The story was quite elaborate as she described their dating, weddings, and how Ashley asked her dad if she could hug her boyfriend. Yes, I admit I'm trying to keep my kids from thinking boys are wonderful early. I know it'll happen. Boys won't be able to resist them and soon nature will take over. For now, boys still have cooties (I think she was testing my reaction on that one).
Anyway I'm getting off track here. The point is, despite my burning throat, aching body and general weariness, my sweet little girl found a captive audience and couldn't resist regaling mommy with the tale of her and her sister's rock family.
Later in the day, while I sat in the chair in their play room and orchestrated their cleaning party, I met the family. They now sit on the ledge guarding the room.
At one point I put a *rock* in the trash bag I was holding and couldn't figure out why my 3 year old was crying. Don't you worry, I safely rescued Lily from the trash and reunited her with her husband.
Never a dull moment for this momma.
