4 years & 3 days ago...

This sweet little girl was born. She was 6 weeks early and as a result she had an undeveloped left lung. Our precious little baby's arrival was anticipated, however we had no idea until she was born, that we were having our third little girl. Needless to say that when she was delivered and my husband announced for everyone in the room that we had a girl while his head rolled back... I was surprised and thrilled! For 3 days she lacked a name because of that small detail. After having to admit her to the NICU shortly after her birth we discussed the need for "peanut" to have a name. She finally did! It only took a coupla days for mom and dad to get it together. *smile*

Her name? Grace Cathleen. Grace because we realize it is only God's grace that kept our little girl alive. While some may think that her problems were minimal compared to their child(ren)s problems, we could wholly grasp that the Lord could've called her home to be with Him. Cathleen was after my Pastor's wife who had the most influence on me in the ministry. Her name was Kathy and she went on to glory the year becore Grace was born. When we knew we were expecting I had asked if we had a girl if we could name her after her.

It's now 4 years later and this little girl has been one of the sweetest little kids. She has some of the biggest brown eyes you've ever seen and her heart seems to be just as big. We all know that her little 12 day stint in the NICU endeared her in a special way to family members. She used to be the best cleaner (hmmm, gonna have to reverse that, again), and she is by far the best sharer! What to do with the sisters who know that and capitalize on it?!

Last December, right before her birthday, she had to have her 8 front teeth pulled because her teeth had grown in without enamel. Just a couple of hours out of surgery, and after I had drilled her sisters on how we were going to wait on her hand and foot, she was bouncing off the arm of the couch. There's no holding this little pistol down. We have made her "gap" special. She thinks she has a trick because she can put her tongue through her teeth.

Grace loves being home with her daddy and mommy. She has chosen to be with us over spending the night with grandparents! To her there is nothing better than running errands with mommy and buying a treat at the end. Whenever one of us leaves she is always careful to run to the door and wave goodbye while everyone else is taking their time getting there. When we get back she is the one who runs to the door to greet you!

Just because I can't resist I've gotta tell you she was wearing Ciarra's play dress earlier and after going on about how cute she looked I asked her if she was wearing her sister's dress. Hesitantly she answered, "well, she's not here, so..." the big brown eyes lit up and I knew she could get away with it.

Thank you Lord for blessing our family with this precious little Grace Cathleen. Our lives are so much more full with her in them.

I waited the 3 days to write this because she didn't get her name until she was 3 days old. Don't worry this was thought out.
