On Wednesday husband had to go in to work at 6pm so the girls and I made the trip to church without dad.
I'll back up for just moment and say the Lord blessed us with the biggest tax return this year in our history of filing taxes and as a result we were able to buy the car he's been "test driving" since October. While there may be other prettier (int. cool) colored cars, after some deliberation we agreed that you typically don't get to "test drive" a car for 6 months before buying it. I say this tongue in cheek because what actually happened is that a friend let him borrow the car for 6 months til he gets into a company vehicle but they decided to put it up for sale the week before we got our tax return. I told them we were considering buying it and asked if they'd let us talk about it. So there you have it. For the first time in our almost 10 years of marriage we now have "his" and "hers" vehicles. His is orange and it's a manual.
That said, on Wednesday night when he was leaving for work we couldn't find the keys to his car so in a moment of panic I told him to take my car and that we'd figure out something. Either find the keys or hitch a ride.
Not even 5 mins after he left I found the keys and we were set. I now knew how we'd get to church. Fast forward through dinner and getting ready and we're where we need to be for this story.
His car doesn't have a clicker for the garage so that means I had to back out, park the car and run up to put in the code. I was all excited because it was just me and the girls and we were going to be on time. I was running up to the number pad and noticed a neighbor girl had ridden up on her bike and parked. There she sat. Staring at me. I could feel her eyes in the back of my head. Finally she spoke, "you're new in the neighborhood aren't you?" "Excuse me," I said. "You're not from here are you?" She asked. "Oh no, " I replied, "we just moved in." "Yeah, I thought so," she said, "I've lived here my whole life and I've never seen you around."
So yeah, we live in THAT neighborhood. We even had friendship bread brought over and the first day we were cleaning another neighbor came over to introduce herself and offer herself for babysitting or "anything else I might need" which is a good thing cuz I ended up needing a stool that day.
Oh, and I may need a lawnmower soon since we actually have grass in our yard.
