Dear friends,
I realize that there are probably a one handful of people who really read this blog and to you I ask, please pray for us. This may sound strange and I will elaborate but I beg your prayers because I am finding it hard to.
This morning I asked 3 people closest to me to pray for me today and I got into the shower. I, like many of you, do some of my best thinking there, alone.
I stood there thinking of the plight that is our situation and was reminded again, of something a preacher said, (I don't quote it because I don't remember his exact words): people look at a big church and think wow look what the Lord's done, they don't usually ask what'd you have to go through to get here preacher. It's so true.
Please don't think me pious when I say that some Christians may never have to go through the plight that is ours and vice versa. We all grow at different rates and some may look at our situation and think, thank God I don't have to endure that. Y'know I'm thankful they don't too. Some people might give under the pressure.
I kept thinking of Bible stories and of quotes and songs. Some say "fake it til you make it" yes, sometimes that works...some say, "keep telling yourself (fill in the blank) and one day you'll believe it." Sometimes that works too.
The verse that kept coming to mind was,"weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Pr. 30:5b and I thought how long Lord, is my night?
A verse in a song kept coming to mind,
"When the valley plunges deeper and life shatters all my dreams then I lift my voice to Jesus and He gives my spirit wings." I wanted so badly to lift my pleading voice but it wouldn't come.
When the weeping finally came this is what came from my mouth (and I believe it was because of the 3 I asked to hold me up in prayer today),"thank you Lord that my kids are not sick in a hospital. Thank you Lord that my marriage is in tact. Thank you Lord that my husband is not in a hospital somewhere. Thank you Lord that we are not starving, we have never had the water turned off. Thank you Lord that the power has never been shut off. Thank you Lord for keeping us from car wrecks. Thank you Lord. Thank you, thank you, thank you. God, you've been so good to me." I wept and I thanked Him over and over again.
You see, I've wanted to cry out from the depths of my being for the plight that is ours to end. Instead I cannot get over His goodness!
Indeed, this weeping may endure for a months long night, but I am confident that even in the midst, there is unspeakable joy and indeed there will be joy in the morning!
What a great victory!
