Right hand on button, left thumb in mouth

When Cuppie was about 6 months old, the thumb sucking started. A year and a half later we have a problem. She can't wear nightgowns to bed because she has to have her right hand on her belly button while her left thumb is in her mouth. You can imagine the trouble this makes when she wears a dress. In the car, she has to have her dress hiked up higher than the belt so she can get her hand in there behind the buckle and fall asleep.

(6 months old)
On our last major road trip when she'd had enough of the car, she decided she needed me to hold her foot. While she sucked her thumb. And had her hand on her button. Yes she fell asleep. No, I don't still hold her foot.

One day I hope she will outgrow the these habits but for now, they save on having to search for "ra ra's" which are pacis and the thumb is totally free!(Christmas 2006)
(Proving that it doesn't matter where she is) and that this is not a modest habit)

O MY do you remember your little sister Rosa! And do YOU remember how YOU broke her of the habit at seven years old? I'm so glad that we homeschooled her those early years for the simple reason that she would not have survived the early days in public school @ 5 or 6 years old without her thumb/button rub! My grandbaby is adorable! mom
